Yesterday on our trip home from town we pulled into a farm store and bought ourselves 4 young laying hens. We have a chicken coup out the back of our garden and decided it was high time we used it! I think the chooks will be a few weeks of laying yet, especially after the 2 hour trip home in a cardboard box on the back seat of our car! They seem to be very shy and have hardly ventured out of their box aside from grabbing some food and water and running back into hiding! I am sure in a few days they will settle down and start exploring their coup and testing out all the veggie scraps I will be throwing to them. We now have dogs and chickens to feed our scraps to which will reduce the garbage that leaves this house- that is until all the nappies come rolling through!
The next stage will be training the dogs that playing with the chickens will result in a serous hiding and then it'll be onto fox watch with the 22 ready and waiting! I think the cage is pretty secure but when and animal gets hungry you never know what they'll do!
I am very excited that I only have 11 weeks left of my pregnancy- give or take a couple of course- I have my baby shower this weekend and cannot wait to set up Bubs new presents and then of course to go shopping afterward for all the things that I still need!
Just to make life a little more interesting and challenging I have also enrolled in a correspondence 'Diploma of Childrens Services'. I am very excited about this course because not only will it teach me how to raise and educate my own children from a young age, I will also be able to find a job where I can take Bub along whether it be to a Daycare Center or Preschool! The course is also set up so that I can do all the assignments in my own time around Bubs routine and I can take up to 3 years to complete it if things get too hectic.
Hopefully my course materials will arrive by the end of the week and I can get a head start in the upcoming months (it will also a great distraction to take my mind of wanting to pop like RIGHT NOW!)

Enjoy the peace and quiet now. Remember, you cannot stuff it back again! Once it's out, that's it! Your life will be changed forever!!
